On Thursday 16th February, 27 students from Carmel College received the Sacrament of Confirmation during Mass celebrated by Bishop Seamus Cunningham. The Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas Aquina’s Church, Darlington. It was a wonderful occasion in which the students themselves participated in the readings and music for the Mass.
The students had all participated in a series of sessions of catechesis led by different members of the Deanery community and Mr Gardner The sessions focused on: the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives, the Eucharist as the source and summit of our faith and Reconciliation as an opportunity to develop our relationship with Christ.
The students all joined the Flame Congress as part of their sacramental catechesis. The students, who have all made a choice to ‘confirm’ their own Catholic faith have been supported and guided by the whole College community, in particular, the RE department who joined with the students for the Mass.
Form tutors, catechists, senior leaders and the RE department met with the students in College after the Confirmation to celebrate their next step in their journey of faith.
