Medical Mavericks

Marvellous Medical Mavericks thrilled, educated and excited groups of science, Health and Social Care and Child Development students with a day of interactive medical workshops of data collection, analysis and diagnosis. Students had the exciting opportunity to get involved in hands on workshops where they took blood from ‘Handy Andy’ the fake arm; recorded and printed their own ECG; tried keyhole surgery; and looked inside their own body with an ultrasound machine! They also were able to take a picture of the inside of their eye and test their blood pressure and respiratory levels amongst other things. All had a great time, but more importantly, they were introduced to so many different medical careers for all levels and abilities.
