Year 10 and 11 students interested in medical careers went to a medical day run at Middlesbrough College by MCS projects for raising aspirations. They heard from medical students on how to apply to Medical School, and a practicing doctor about their work. They took part in a number of interactive activities including Emergency Medical Assistance where they learned about the procedures that need to be followed in a medical emergency including CPR and diagnostics where they played the role of a doctor investigating two different medical conditions. Medical Ethics resulted in them being presented with real medical scenarios, and having to consider the ethical implications as the conditions develop. Anatomy – asked them to investigate the heart and were inspired by medical robotics and prosthetic inventions.
