‘Introduction to Inclusive Sports’

26 Year 10 BTEC Sport students will be attending the ‘Introduction to Inclusive Sports’ course on Thursday 5th October. The course will take place at Marsh House Sports & Community Centre, Marsh House Avenue, Billingham TS23 3HB 10am – 2pm. The course aims to introduce students to disability and disability sport. The course features games and activities to challenge the perceptions of learners. At the end of the course students will be able to lead informal disability sport sessions and feel confident working with people with disabilities. It is both a theory and practical course. Students will be required to participate fully in all parts of the course to receive a certificate.

The course will cover the following topics:

Disability awareness – Terminology, disability types, dos and don’ts, experiencing disability.
Disability sport coaching – Ethics, Inclusion spectrum, STEP principle.
Disability Sport – Boccia, Kurling, Table cricket, Seated Volleyball, Goalball.
