India Wins English Schools’ Cross-Country Championships – 16 March 2019

Despite being a year young, India Pentland (12BL) representing Durham, won the senior girls race at the English Schools’ Cross-Country Championships on Saturday. She beat off competition from over 300 runners, on a very wet and muddy course, at Temple Newsam in Leeds. In a thrilling finish, she was third going up the final hill, before pulling away in the closing stages to win by 4 seconds. Mr Hannaford, who has been the County Durham team manager for over 30 years, said he was delighted to finally see an athlete from Carmel cross the line in first place. We are all very proud of India!
