To commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day, Katie Noble and Eve Whitaker in Sixth Form organised a survivor testimony to provide students in year 8 the opportunity to hear a personal testimony. As part of their Lessons from Auschwitz project, Katie and Eve have organised and taken part in a number of events since their visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in October 2016, such as speaking at the Darlington Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony and visiting year 8 form groups to share their experience. Katie and Eve signed up to an online survivor testimony webcast, provided by the Holocaust Education Trust to hear the testimony on Mala Tribich. They used their own experience of visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau and hearing the testimony of Eva Clarke to share why they believed it was important for students in year 8 to attend the survivor testimony. 80 students in year 8 attended the live screening of Mala’s testimony.
