A group of Year 12 students attended a conference that was held in York on the 6th of February. The conference was specifically aimed at students who are studying the new A level specification. The conference was led by the dynamic philosophical thinker Dr Peter Vardy.
The issues that were explored included the Ontological Argument, Cosmological and Teleological arguments for the existence of God. Students were also given the opportunity to reflect on Evil and Suffering in the world as well as Virtue Ethics. Dr Vardy enabled us to examine these areas of philosophical interest due to his clarity of explanation and infectious sense of humour!
After the conference students felt a renewed sense of confidence regarding the issues dealt with and a realisation that this was an opportunity that consolidated their knowledge and understanding of the topics which would help their preparations for the AS level examinations.
